EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In addition to the immediate touristic and economic
benefits, the event will have a significant impact on the
urban landscape of the entire Île-de-France region, due
to the infrastructure and development work carried out
for the occasion. As the city of Paris is not affected by
the development projects, it should not experience any
increase directly linked to the Olympic Games. However,
it will undoubtedly benefit from a one-off surge in the
already very active seasonal rental sector. The department
of Seine-Saint-Denis will be the first beneficiary: it will
indeed host the future Olympic village.
We may therefore see a catching up of property prices in
Seine-Saint-Denis, compared to the departments in the
west of Île-de-France. This probability is reinforced by the
development of the Grand Paris Express and the SaintDenis
Pleyel station, which will constitute an additional
pole of attraction, the construction of which will be
completed in 2024.
Finally, the capital is likely to benefit from a strengthening
of its international influence, as well as economic spin-offs,
before, during and after the event. These elements will
indirectly contribute to the upward trend in the property
market, both for Paris itself and the inner suburbs."

In the Summer of 2016, works started on a fundamental
redesign of the public transport network serving Paris
and the surrounding areas. The project will run until
2030 and will better connect Paris' three airports with
the business districts and research clusters, as well as
making the daily lives of two million commuters much
easier. The implications are huge for the residential
property market within Paris and the Île-de-France
and it pays to understand the enormity of the project:
● 200 km of new railway lines
● Four additional lines
● 68 brand new stations
● Two million passengers every day
● 100% automated metro, 90% of
underground lines
● Estimated cost of 22.6 billion euros
This is a flagship project for ecological transition and
one of vital importance for France, in urban, social and
economic terms. The project is fully aligned with the
goals laid out at the recent COP 21 summit in Glasgow,
reducing traffic congestion, shortening commuting
times and preserving natural land.
