rental potential. With inflation
increasing I predict that more and
more buyers will be looking at shortterm rentals to cover
their holiday
home running costs. This means
character village properties, with a
courtyard or terrace, where prices
range from 120,000 up to 220,000
euros.
In terms of international buyers,
we are seeing many Scandinavian
buyers who love the climate. It is
a little akin to the north American
"snowbirds" flocking to Florida or
California. Indeed, Montpellier
airport has just opened a new route
to Oslo. Up to nine direct flights per
week land from Copenhagen, Oslo
and Stockholm."
Claudia Goetting runs our team in
the Hérault and has lived there for
15 years. She is one of the most
experienced agents in the company
and tells us that last year was one
of the busiest on record.
"The Notaires tell us that property
sales in Hérault increased by almost
10% in 2022, but that doesn't give
the whole picture. Local demand has
been intense, but add in enquiries
from the UK, Germany, Holland,
Belgium and even the USA and you
can see why we have been so busy. The
market in and around Béziers has been
as hot as the Mediterranean sunshine,
as it is a beautiful market town, with
easy access to the coast and wonderful
resorts like Agde and Sète. Demand in
2023 is sure to remain high."
