"The market is strong, but of course it is
actually a series of micro-markets along
the Riviera. We are at the tail end of the
developer (marchand des biens) influenced
market. This is where professionals have
been buying property/sites so that they can
add value and turn them. For the last few
years, we have wondered where the families
and normal owner-occupiers are, but they
are appearing again now. Developers have
wanted to extract value and we're coming
into a different phase - but there's still plenty
of money around. We are seeing some stock
PACA is renowned for its glamorous
coastline, picturesque villages, and
luxurious lifestyle.
Nice airport has direct flights to 31 countries
and welcomes 6.5m passengers a year,
many of whom fly in privately. For private
jets it has a dedicated "business aviation"
terminal, with its own customs control and
luxury shops. You can also use the helicopter
terminal, with a VIP lounge, and sevenminute transfer
time to Monaco.
The most popular areas for luxury buyers
on the French Riviera includes the exclusive
areas of Saint-Tropez, Cannes, and Monaco.
The countryside around both Aix-en-
Provence and Avignon is popular with luxury
buyers looking for secluded retreats.
There have been a number of high profile
property sales recently, including a
waterfront villa in Cap d'Antibes, and a
historic property in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
The media has widely reported that, in the
same village, a contemporary villa created
by renowned architect Jean Nouvel has
come onto the market for 46m euros.
